First floor: Living / dining room. Well-equipped open kitchen with microwave - oven, coffee machine, kettle, mixer, fridge, electric hob and oven. 1 double Bedroom, 1 sleeping sofa in the living room, shower room.
Heating: Airco hot and cold.
Amenities: Private swimming pool, TV, wi-fi Internet, barbecue, private garden, pool house with kitchen and pool - table, laundry room with washing machine and ironing board, cot (at request).
House and surroundings
The cottage, "O Alpendre" is situated just South of the town of Arco de Baúlhe. Before its renovation the cottage was in use as a storage room for agricultural produce. Now it is a light, comfortably and tastefully furbished place where you can spend a very enjoyable holiday.
The property consists of a main house, the cottage and a pool house. The main house is the second house of the owners, a Portugues couple. When they are present, they will not use the pool, the garden and the pool house, these are exclusively for you!
In front of the pool house is a large and beautiful, private garden with some fruit trees, a lawn and lots of flowers, which is for the sole use of O Alpendre’s guests. From the terrace you have a nice view over the garden, the hills and mountains in the distance.
At walking distance, just a little further down the road, is a small stream which offers nice places to swim. There is also a sunbathing field on the river bank and a bar with meals and drinks during the summer months.
In Arco de Baúlhe, 2 kilometres from the cottage, is the terminal of the former Tâmega narrow gauge railway line. It has been more than 20 years since the trains halted there, the station has been converted into a local museum with one of the last steam engines and several carriages on show. The track is transformed into a 40 km bicycle and foot path, a beautiful route along vineyards, old stations, woodland and bridges.
In Arco de Baúlhe are several shops, pastelarias and restaurants. More choice is to be found in Cabeceiras de Basto (8 km), there is also a supermarket, a health care centre, and a large weekly market.
The distance to the centre of Braga is about 60 km, to Guimarães (Unesco World Heritage) 40 km, and to the impressive national park Peneda-Gerês plus the lake Caniçada 45 km.
