Layout and amenities

Ground floor: Entrance. Large living / dining room with open fireplace. Fully fitted kitchen with access to the patio at the back. Second living room, also with access to the patio.
First floor: 5 Bedrooms: the 1st a twin with ensuite bathroom, the 2nd and 3rd a double, the 4th a twin, and the 5th a single. 2 Shared bathrooms. 2 Verandas, one at the front and one at the back.
Heating: Central heating, with an open fireplace in the living /dining room.
Amenities: Private swimming pool, TV, dishwasher, washing machine, barbecue, cot (at request), toaster, microwave oven.

House and surroundings

Quinta da Amareira is a beautiful farmhouse that has been restored by a family from Guimarães into a comfortable country house. It stands just outside the village of Gonça in a quiet rural area, overlooking the valley of the Rio Ave.

For those who wish to enjoy the country life but don't want to miss out on the pleasures of the nearby city this the ideal place. The property, with its pleasant garden, a private swimming pool with a sun deck, its house with two living rooms, a veranda at the front and one at the back, and a patio – the place for outdoor meals –, offers for every mood a fitting entourage.

In the vicinity are good possibilities for walking through the woodlands or the farmlands in the valley below. From the nearby town of São Torcato is a marked circular walk along a few old water mills. São Torcato is famous for its church, a showpiece of local stone masonry but after more than a century still not completed.
On the far bank of the Rio Ave are the vineyards of Quinta Vila Beatriz, one of the best producers of vinho verde in the region. There you will also find the famous excavations of Citânia de Briteiros and a beautiful road via Bom Jesus to Braga.

There are a few small shops in Gonça. In São Torcato (5 km) you will find more shops, a large supermarket and several restaurants. The distance to the centre of Guimarães is about 9 km.
