House and surroundingsA little paradise along the waterfront - there is no other way to describe the Quinta do Caneiro in just a few words!The owners have done everything to ensure that this unique property became an enjoyable country retreat. The house, which sleeps 6 to 8 people, is fitted out with all the modern conveniences. The large covered patio with outdoor kitchen, and the garden at the front are intended for spending long summer days while enjoying the lovely views and surroundings. The grounds include some wide areas of grassland and trees, sloping down to the waterfront. The property offers privacy and ample space for playing games and seeking out the sun or the shade. The fence provides safety for little children, preventing them from going accidentally near the water. The quinta lies on an arm of the large Caniçada reservoir, which is closed off for boats, in the foothills of the impressive Peneda-Gerês national park. The water quality of the lake is frequently monitored by the authorities, and classified as good for swimming (source: http://snirh.pt/). At about 1 km from the house are a couple of small shops with groceries and a simple restaurant. More choice is to be found in Rio Caldo (3 km) and Vila do Gerês. At the other side of the lake, 4 km away, you can rent canoes, pedaloes, jet ski’s and motor boats, and also (learn to) waterski. The distance to the city of Braga is ± 40 km. |
