Casa do Olival, August 2009
“It was nice to meet you on the 1st August. We would just like to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay at Casa da Olival, which is in a fabulous setting and has a wonderful atmosphere. Please convey our thanks to the owner and his wife for making us feel so welcome, and for the use of his cottage which has made our holiday so good. ”
Mr T. F. from the UK

Quinta Travessa, July 2009
“May I take this opportunity to say how much we enjoyed our stay, the Quinta was beautiful, very stylish modernisation of the property, with excellent gardens and pool. The hosts were very friendly and I'm sure we would have had long chats if we could speak Portuguese or they could speak English!
I could not fault your organisation, everything was dealt with promptly and efficiently. Your directions and information were very useful, much better than the local tourist information centre who did not even know the DiverLanhoso adventure park which was only about 10 miles away. We will certainly reccommend you to anyone and use you again if we return to this area.”
Mrs P. B. from England

Casa do Cruzeiro, June 2009
“Our family completely enjoyed our visit to Portugal. Casa do Cruzeiro is a wonderful villa - very welcoming and comfortable with great views and lake enjoyment. We hope for a return visit.”
Mrs D. M. from the USA

Casal dos Zimbros and Casa do Valle, August 2008
“We had a very enjoyable stay at both houses. They more than lived up to the descriptions on your web site. Casal dos Zimbros, in particular, was fantastic with more personal touches and facilities than described (we have updated its description). It really is a lovely place to stay and I can see us returning in the near future if it stays available for rental.”
Dr D. H. from England

Casa do Garrano, August 2008
“Just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed our 2 weeks at Casa do Garrano. What a lovely property! The garden was so peaceful and attractive that many days we decided just to sit and enjoy it rather than go out.”
Mrs A. B. from England

Casa Normanda, August 2008
“We all had a superb holiday at Casa Normanda - many thanks to you and to the owner for everything! I have been recommending the area to everyone back at home!”
Dr C. B. from England

O Alpendre and Casa da Colmeia, August 2008
“We very much enjoyed our holiday in Portugal. Both places we stayed were excellent. At Casa da Colmeia the owners were there on their holidays and made us feel very welcome. Their games room was a real bonus for our 16 year old son. We would certainly consider returning to the area where we completed some fantastic walks in the mountains.”
Ms V. H. from England

Casa do Olival, July 2008
“We really enjoyed our holiday at Casa do Olival, made a lot of use of the pool as it was so hot. To the restaurant suggestions would like to add Churrasqueria do Paço near the A7 junction on the Arco road - one of the few places to provide outside dining. All the restaurant suggestions found provided excellent food at very good value, all the people very friendly indeed. The owner and his wife are very charming, we very much appreciated their gifts of fresh peaches, salad and vegetables as well as the delicious wine and bottle of port. Thanks for all your help in arranging our holiday in such a beautiful area.”
Mrs V. L. from England

Casa da Cortinha, June 2008
“We would like to let you know that we had a wonderful time at and in Casa da Cortinha. The location was fabulous and provided a much needed slower pace of life, the views spectacular. The restored farm house description does not give it justice - it is a huge barn!, with everything we needed on a luxury and functional basis. The owners were very warm and welcoming and nice to meet them as so many rental holiday houses just involve the agent. Thank you for your assistance in paying the baker the correct money - complete bliss to awake each morning to fresh bread! The owners wine was excellent too!”
Ms J. B. from London

Casa dos Três Bicos, June 2008
“We had a fabulous time thank you - great villa and weather, plus we really enjoyed Cabeceiras and the surrounds. We have already started looking into next year’s holiday!”
Mr J. P. from England

Casa das Minas, July/August 2007
“We just wanted to tell you that we all had a wonderful time during our stay at Casa das Minas. From our first enquiry about the casa to our arrival in Portugal the service that you offered was always prompt, friendly and very efficient. Thank you.
The casa provided superb and very comfortable accommodation for our family of four and we especially enjoyed the comforts provided by the patio and garden; and on the very hot days the granite cistern was wonderful! The kitchen is very well equipped and our only problem with the water heater was dealt with very efficiently. Whilst not being able to speak a word to each other, the housekeeper is obviously a lovely and very helpful lady and it was always a pleasure to meet her whenever she was working in the garden.
We enjoyed some great days out and especially enjoyed our visits to Bom Jesus, Guimaraes, Citania de Briterios, Barcelos, Ponte de Lima and Porto. Further afield we particularly enjoyed the beaches at Moledo, Ancora and Afife, whilst the scenery in the PNPG (the national park) was spectacular. The boys especially enjoyed our two visits to Agua Montanha Lazer at Rio Caldo, having great fun both on and in the water!!
On one very minor point, I think it would have helped us to have more leaflets, maps and tourist information in the casa itself and when we have stayed in other casas in both France and Spain it has helped if there has been a 'journal' in which previous visitors have written comments, advice and recommendations. Usually this has given us some great places to visit, that are not always in the guidebooks.
Overall we had a fantastic holiday and I would strongly recommend 'Casas da Cabreira' and Casa das Minas to anyone looking for a holiday in the north of Portugal.”
Mr A. S. from England

Casa da Colmeia, August 2007
“We had a fabulous holiday in Portugal and were particularly impressed with the standard of accommodation at Casa da Colmeia. It was a pleasure to meet you and thanks for the prompt responses to the power cuts. Our restaurant highlight of the holiday, thanks to your recommendation, was the trip Dona Melozinha at Oliviera. Wonderful setting, excellent food and a charming host, very enjoyable thank you.”
Mr G. H. from England

Casa do Forno, July 2007
“We had a wonderful holiday at Casa do Forno. The property was superb and the owners, who were in residence, made us very welcome. The region, which was new to us, was so beautiful and the walking we did was equal or better than any previously experienced. I can’t think of a holiday we’ve had to beat it.”
Mr J. B. from England

Casa de Pichoses, June 2007
“The villa was wonderful - the owners were very helpful and the facilities were first class. The weather meant that we didn’t use the pool as much as we would have liked but, as the holiday was primarily an off-roading 4x4 holiday, the location was ideal. We will definitely recommend Casa de Pichoses and Casas da Cabreira to our friends.”
Ms M. C. from England

Casal do Gato, June 2007
“We have had a great holiday, despite the weather which has been quite mixed. The sunshine has been plentiful, but so has the rain! However, it’s a fabulous house - perfect for two honeymooners like ourselves. We really enjoyed the pool when we could, the bbq and granite table and the beautiful flowers and vines all around the house which seem to attract birds of all kinds. Due to the (at times) disappointing weather we had fairly frequent excuses to use the open fire too which gives a lovely romantic atmosphere to the already cosy sitting room. As to the area, its gorgeous!”
Mr and Mrs D. V. from Ireland

Quinta da Baralha, May 2007
“Firstly, thank you! We had a lovely relaxing time and feel somewhat rejuvinted after our visit. We really fell in love with the area, and indeed with that particular valley and were made to feel welcomed by all those we met in the time we were there. What is the availability for Baralha in September this year?”
Mr D. N. from Scotland

Casa de Gandufe, August 2006
“We have always made it a principle never to visit the same place twice in a row (far too many places to see in the world, too little time etc). However, Northern Portugal has changed all that, and even the teenagers (!) want to come again! The place is beautiful beyond our expectations, the Casa de Gandufe a perfect retreat, and the people so friendly (in spite of our extreme language differences!) We have only done a fraction of what we had planned in the short space of time we were there and will make it a fortnight next year.
Incidently, you seemed to know of the gentleman that runs the Pensão Nascente Do Ave (the nearest restaurant). He kindly (at my daughters request) put chicken on the menu for the Saturday before we left. He had gone before we got the chance to thank him and say Aurevoir - if you happen upon him at any point please tell him we really appreciated it and the chicken was delicious! Good example of the kindness and friendliness of the people we met!
Delighted to have found your organisation - thanks for your friendly and efficient service!”
Ms M. v E. from England

Casa do Pontido, August 2006
“We are home now two weeks and have had plenty of time to remember our holidays with the help of our many photographs. The country, the region, our home for the duration of our holiday were simply wonderful. It was our first time in Portugal and the professionalism (completeness and clarity and ease of access) of Casas da Cabreira and your own courtesy made identifying and booking our ideal holiday home very easy. The travel directions provided were ‘spot-on’ and finding the home was extremely easy too.
Viera do Minho was a wonderful discovery for us and a region we will return to.
Casa da Pontido was a beautifully appointed and tranquil location.
So a big ‘Thank You’ for your contribution to our memorable holiday in Portugal. We will certainly consult with Casas da Cabreira if considering another holiday in Portugal - actually we will be returning (hopefully soon) to Portugal and Casas da Cabreira will be our first ‘port of call’.
With lots of good memories and kind regards,”
Mr A. C. from Ireland

Quinta Travessa, August 2006
“We really enjoyed our holiday. Quinta Travessa was beautiful and the owners were extremely hospitable and generous.”
Mrs D. L. from England

Casa da Fonte, August 2006
“Once again our family had a fantastic holiday because of your helpful information and perfect surroundings. We would like to send a small token of our appreciation to the owners. They were such a friendly couple and we loved their house.”
Mrs C. B. from England

Casa Pequena and Casa do Olival, July 2006
“We enjoyed our stay greatly, the people were friendly and patient with our limited Portuguese, especially the owner of Casa do Olival and his wife. We had one or two problems - a leaking dish washer, an interruption in the water supply to the house and stinging wasps at the outdoor shower, all of which were dealt with effectively and promptly by the owner. They were also very kind inviting us in for a welcoming coffee and liqueur and providing us with fresh fruit, refreshing and delicious vinho verde branco and tinto, advice on route planning when we went walking in the Douro valley, also a generous bottle of port when we left. Communicating with sentences made up simultaneously of Portuguese, French and English was a surreal experience but somehow we seemed to manage! Once we worked out that the place with a windmill outside was the paderia and not someone's house we were regular and, it seemed, welcome customers. The bread was delicious and I enjoyed particularly the day I was able to buy some custards. Our friend was grateful also to the taxi driver (transport to the airport of Porto) who was a happy, helpful and reliable man.
Casa Pequena was something special, a fabulous oasis where we were content to stay and relax and have our spirits restored. My wife here too enjoyed getting up early so she didn't miss the baker's van, an impressive every day service and we required little else than his rustic heavy wheat loaf to sustain us. At Olival we realised the benefit during the great sunny weather of granite wall construction that we had enjoyed at Casa Pequena.
All our memories are happy, positive and satisfied ones. If we have any suggestions, provision of a cooling fan at Casa do Olival would probably be the main one (suggestion dealt with by the owner), a print-out at your various premises of what to look out for in the region, etc might also be helpful, especially for the likes of us who may not have had the time to research things fully. However, these are minor points, we hope to be back and thank you sincerely for your friendly help and prompt response when needed.”
Mr C. H. from Scotland

Casa Velha and Casa do Pontido, July 2006
“Thanks for your help in arranging accommodation in Quinta da Boucinha and Casa do Pontido. We enjoyed both properties very much although for different reasons. We particularly liked the immediate country location of Quinta Boucinha with good walking right from the door but found the lack of restaurants close by a slight disadvantage. The property had everything we look for in self catering properties plus the bonus of a pool, a real advantage on hot days and a very nice garden with lots of wildlife.
Casa do Pontido did not have such nice immediate surroundings but had the advantage of easy access to the local town and facilities. We found it a good base for exploring the Peneda-Gerês National Park with its countryside so different to the Serra da Cabreira. The house was comfortable and more than adequate for our needs.
The two properties were an excellent combination and gave us nearly two weeks very enjoyable holiday.
Your web site is excellent, easy to use with lots of detail on the properties and surrounding area and booking was handled efficiently. The sterling account made payment very simple with no exchange issues. We would have no hesitation in recommending your services or either of the properties we stayed in to any friends or relatives. We hope to return to the area at some time in the future.”
Mr J. G. from England

Quinta Travessa, July 2006
“We had a lovely holiday at Quinta Travessa. The casa was really lovely and the owners were very helpful and friendly. We would certainly recommend it to others.”
Mrs J. B. from England

Casa de Pichoses, July 2006
“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa de Pichoses. The house and pool were great and the owners were very helpful and discreet. The area is beautiful with plenty to see and do, and it helped that the weather was fine! Incidentally the information you provided about the route and the area proved extremely useful and we managed to find the property without any difficulty.”
Mrs B. M. from Ireland

Quinta do Meira, July 2006
“Just a quick note to tell you how much we enjoyed our trip to the north of Portugal. We loved the area and we toured around for hundreds of kilometres! We would recommend the area to all our friends and also your website. Thank you for the clear directions and useful information you sent us. We wouldn't hesitate to book our holiday with your company again.
Just a tiny bit of feed back about the apartment: The accommodation was extremely spacious, clean and very comfortable and air conditioned - all great - and we had a very happy stay for our two weeks. Pool area very attractive and clean with well maintained gardens. Friendly and helpful owners. All very good and we thought excellent value for money.
If we had to be REALLY picky we would suggest a few more kitchen items. Great balcony area with parasol however the wooden seats were uncomfortable - only mentioned if the furniture was being replaced in the near future or seat pads could be provided perhaps. (suggestions dealt with by the owners)
P.S. We did visit Diver Lanhoso while we were away and had a great day! We also recommend Água Montanha (water sports at lake Caniçada) and Peter says “Hello”!
Here’s hoping we can visit another of your properties next year.”
Mrs D. B. from England

Casa do Forno, June 2006
“We enjoyed our stay very much. Its a fine place you have there, and the location is excellent. We'll definitely be back to explore further.”
Mr O. M. from England

Quinta do Meira, May 2006
“Just a short note to thank you and everyone at Quinta do Meira for a wonderful stay with you in May. Myself and my husband and two boys absolutely loved our stay in the Quinta and Portugal, everyone was so nice and the place was amazing. We are hoping to come back again in September.”
Mrs L. F. from Ireland

Casa de Fundevila and Casa Velha + Casa Branca, August 2005
“We all had a fantastic time (very relaxing and peaceful) both accommodations were beautiful. We, only the other night, had yet another "family debate" deciding on which week was the winner and all came to the conclusion they BOTH were.
Advise to any prospective travellers:
Suberb and unspoilt part of Portugal (may be a little quiet for some families - but plenty to do if you are prepared to put your-selves out and well worth the effort). Take the time to have some fun at Lake Caniçada fantastic water sports run by Peter a great British man (very helpful). One of the most relaxing holidays we have had and our children (aged 16, 15 & 8) also appreciate the fact they have had the chance to glimpse this beautiful unspoilt region.
P.S. The much publicised forest fires were pretty stunning as well and although we were apprehensive Joost put our minds at rest (as with any questions we had Joost was very friendly and efficient).
Thank you Casas da Cabreira.”
Mrs J. P. from England
