House and surroundings
Boadela is a small village on the southern foothills of the Serra da Cabreira.
Casa da Fonte is situated on the outskirts of the village, with its vineyards (together almost 2 acres) on three sides. There are white grapes and winegrapes for red vinho verde.
From the house you enter the sunny garden, with all kinds of fruit trees, an authentic espigueiro (a stone, narrow built corn shed) and the beautifully laid-out swimming pool. The partly covered patio is a lovely place to eat and enjoy the grand view over the valley of the Tâmega river and the mountains across.
The house, outside the season in use by its owners from Braga, originated some years ago from the restauration of an old farmhouse. It is completely and comfortably furnished, noticeably meant as a place of leisure and enjoyment of rural life.
The near environment offers good opportunities for walking. The access road to Casa da Fonte becomes a mere track beyond the house, leading directly into the fields and hills.
The distance to the small town of Cabeceiras de Basto (all facilities) is about 5km. The village has two cafés and a minimercado, a small shop for daily necessities. Restaurants are in Cabeceiras and Arco de Baúlhe.
The distance to Guimarães (Capital of Culture 2012) is about 45 km.
