Splendid villa near the beach of Esposende


Casa Normanda is situated in a small residential area on the edge of the village of Marinhas, just North of Esposende. Nearby are the long white sandy beaches and stretches of dunes of the Atlantic Ocean. This part of the coast is a protected area without high-rise building.

The villa is owned by a family from Porto, who until recently used it as their holiday home. It is comfortably furnished and elegantly decorated throughout. Especially the marble tiled bathrooms are very nice. An outstanding feature is the mezzanine area above the sitting room, offering extra living space, for instance for reading.

All around the villa is a lovely, well-kept garden that offers privacy, especially at the back near the pool, and plenty opportunities for sunbathing or sitting in the shade. The garden is also accessible from both downstairs bedrooms.

The beach is within walking distance (less than 300 metres), without having to cross a road or boulevard. About 400 metres away are a café and a small supermarket. In and on the way to Esposende (3 kms) are more shops and restaurants where locally caught fish is being served.
The distance to Barcelos is 17 kms, and to Viana do Castelo 23 kms. There are 2 golf links in the neighbourhood: Estela (18 holes, 12 kms) and Quinta da Barca (9 holes, 6 kms).

Layout and facilities

Ground floor: Spacious living / dining room with open fireplace and access to the garden. Fully fitted kitchen, also with access to the garden. 2 Bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin), each with ensuite bathroom (bath and shower) and access to the garden.
First floor: Mezzanine with sitting area. Large master bedroom with double bed and large ensuite bathroom (bath and shower). Single bedroom with adjacent small shower room.
Heating: Open fireplace in the living room, electric heaters in the bedrooms ans the bathrooms.
Facilities: Private swimming pool, satellite TV, video player, hifi set, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave oven, toaster, barbecue, cot (at request).

  • In the low season other changeover days after consultation.
  • The weekend break can only be booked 6 weeks or less beforehand.
  • Pets are not allowed.
  • Cleaning (2 times per week) is included.
  • The security deposit is € 300 / £ 240.
  • In the low season there is a € 75 / £ 55 surcharge per week for heating.
  • The mezzanine has widely spaced balustrades; there is a wicket-gate to shut off the top of the staircase.
  • The ground floor, although not especially adapted, is reasonably suitable for (non-electric) wheel chairs.
