House and surroundingsCasa do Olival is a recently rebuilt cottage on a small estate called Quinta da Soalheira. It has its own garden, private swimming pool and parking place, and has its back to the main house. At the front you therefore have uninterrupted views over the fields and mountains beyond.The cottage is nicely furnished and offers everything that is needed for a pleasant stay. On both sides is a patio, so you always have a choice between sun and shade. The patio at the back (with the fixed barbecue) and the adjoining pool area offer lots of privacy. On the quinta corn and grapes are being grown (the owner makes a fine vinho verde), and there are olive trees and all kinds of fruit trees. In front of the house is a large field where children can play. Through the gate at the end of the property you can walk to the Rio Peio, a tributary that flows into the river Tâmega just South of the Cabeceiras county. The distance to the small town of Cabeceiras de Basto (all facilities) is about 2.5 km. Only 300 metres from the property are a bakery and a restaurant that is well known for its bacalhau com batatas a murro. |
