Comfortable, restored tenant farm

Casa do Pontido used to be the house of a caseiro, a tenant for life who could live there in exchange for farming the land of the owner. The farmhouse is carefully and tastefully restored to a very comfortable holiday cottage for 6 people. It enables a pleasant stay on a summer morning on the veranda or on a winter's night in front of the open fireplace. Via the patio at the front you reach a sunny garden with a small vineyard and a lawn. Along the side is a ramada, a pergola overgrown with vines, under which you can sit in the shade in the summertime. The road alongside the house ends about 1.5 km further on at the pilgrimage chapel of Nossa Senhora da Fé. This is a good starting point for walks through the Northerly part of the Serra da Cabreira. From the higher points you have a quite spectacular view of the Serra do Gerês and the reservoirs of Caniçada and Salamonde down below. The town of Vieira do Minho is about 2 km away. There you will find all kinds of shops, restaurants and cafés. Along the nearby reservoir of Ermal/Guilhofrei (6 kms) are beaches and nice places to swim, and also a facility for waterskiing (“Tele-Ski”). More possibilities for watersports are to be found at the large reservoir of Caniçada (15 kms). There are canoes, pedalo's and motor boats for rent and you can also (learn to) waterski. |
