Semi-detached house with roof terrace, close to reservoir

The reservoir of Caniçada (almost 700 hectares) is at the border of the Serra da Cabreira and the Serra do Gerês on the North side. For those who seek recreation by or on the water, alternating with visits to the Portuguese national park Peneda-Gerês, this is an ideal place. Casa Poula is situated in the village of Rio Caldo, just a few minutes walk from the marina. It is nicely furnished and has ample room for 10 people. The most beautiful spot is without a doubt the roof terrace, where you can enjoy the sun all day and look out over the water and the mountains. On the terrace is also a barbecue. In front of the house is a sheltered, gravelled yard. From Rio Caldo there are two roads leading into the national park; one goes via the village and sanctuary of São Bento, the other leads to the spa of Caldas do Gerês, where you find an information centre. They provide information on flora and fauna of the park, archeological finds (among which the roman road that once lead from the city of Braga to Rome), walking routes, etc. The owner of Casa Poula lets out canoes, pedaloes and motor boats. He can also help out if you want to (learn to) waterski or make a guided tour with a Landrover through the park. There are several restaurants, cafés and shops at walking distance. More shops you can find in Sta. Maria do Bouro (in the direction of Amares) and Vieira do Minho (15 kms). In Vieira is the weekly market on Monday. The distance to Braga is about 40 kms. |

Shared bathroom for the third and fourth bedroom. One of the bedrooms has an exit to the yard.First floor: Entrance via outdoor stairs. Lounge with fireplace and TV. Bathroom (shower/toilet). Large dining room. Well-equipped half open kitchen. Top floor: Roof terrace with barbecue. Heating: Fireplace in the lounge, electric heaters in the dining room and the bedrooms.
