Restored village farmhouse

In the beautiful old village of Casares you will find the Quintal da Avó. It used to be a small farm. The granite built haybarn, now called Casa Pequena, is converted into a very nice and comfortable holiday cottage for 2 people.

During the restauration the authentic elements were preserved wherever possible. The thick walls keep the interior, especially the bedroom downstairs, pleasantly cool in the summer.
In front of the cottage is a patio with a stone table and benches, offering a lovely view on the mountains across. The light of the setting sun on the slopes, strewn with big boulders, is often magnificent.

Next to the house is the large landscaped garden with a private swimming pool and sun deck. In between the garden and the parking place is an original canastro, an elongated stone barn on legs.

The nearest town is Cabeceiras de Basto (about 10 km away). There you will find all kinds of shops, restaurants, banks, the post office, a pharmacy, etc. At walking distance, on the edge of the village, is a café with a shop where you can buy groceries, and a simple restaurant.
